A Little About Me
For most of my life, I've worked in the field of behavioral health. As a healthcare provider, I've seen incredible suffering. In the past 20 years, I've worked with a middle-aged mother of four incapacitated from ALS, a teen paralyzed from the neck down just before he left for college, a recovering drug addict suffering with the side-effects of multiple strokes, a young woman whose failed suicide attempt left her blind, deaf, and wheelchair-bound, and many (way too many) elderly men and women with Alzheimer's Disease. I've learned a lot about the things people do to deal with their emotional and physical pain. I've learned a lot about the capacity to heal, the capacity to love.
My experience in healthcare absolutely informs my acting. Both fields require that I truly ENGAGE and LISTEN, that I delve into background and circumstance, and that I have the compassion and empathy to "get into someone else's skin" - all without judgment. There is so much psychology in acting. How fortunate I am to be able to do both!
2018 started off with my great honor of winning Best Actress in a Featurette at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema in California. That same weekend, I flew back into Austin just in time for our World Premiere of another film at South by Southwest and began making plans to celebrate the International Premiere of the short film Caroline at the Cannes Film Festival in France. 2019 has us celebrating as that same film makes the Shortlist for an Academy Award in the Live Action Short Film category. It couldn't get a whole lot better.
Now, onward to the next project and adventure! Always!
